Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind
A respected Zen master in Japan and founder of the San Francisco Zen Center, Shunryu Suzuki has blazed a path in American Buddhism like few others. Not Always So : Practicing the True Spirit of Zen, by Shunryu Suzuki
If you can imagine Zen Existentialism, Not Always So is it. Part instruction manual for Zen practice and part philosophical meditation, Shunryu Suzuki's teachings emphasize being-in-the-world. He does not point toward a singular enlightenment-event as a burst into higher consciousness. Rather, he suggests a more experiential enlightenment that finds meaning in a full awareness of the present. For example: "If you go to the rest room, there is a chance for enlightenment. When you cook, there is a chance for enlightenment. When you clean the floor, there is a chance to attain enlightenment."
At Hell's Gate : A Soldier's Journey from War to Peace, by Claude Anshin Thomas
Thomas offers a raw and poignant memoir of his nightmarish Vietnam experience, postwar depression and ultimate discovery of peace through Buddhism. He spares no anguish in describing his tour of duty in Vietnam in 1967-68, where he had to dehumanize the enemy and himself in order to be a good soldier.
To say that zen has nothing to do with sex would be to say that sex is unnatural.Replace the word "sex" with any other noun or verb.

Indeed, great reminder. In my own Sangha I've raised the issue of sex, especially as it connects with the five precepts. It is one of those things that everybody recites, and sometimes pays lip service to, but for which deep conversation does not always seem to ensue. Some members of my community have, thankfully (and courageously) talked about sex as energy and what it does to them, or how it is an important part of their practice. I wish we could see more of those conversations. Thanks for bringing it up. I'll link to your post from a post in my blog (Woodmoor)
